Often patients will consult doctors after surgery, how to exercise of prosthetic knee for home use ?

Some patients after total knee arthroplasty, have been lying in bed, do not exercise at all; or wake up on the ground, desperate to exercise is not right.

In fact, these two methods are wrong! The former may cause ligament scarring and lose its tenacity and tension, while the latter may lead to joint cavity hematoma, ligament injury, soft tissue injury, swelling, exudation and prolonged rehabilitation.

The prosthetic knee for home use of negative exercise

Ligament scarring, loss of tenacity and tension, joint cavity adhesion, joint range of motion is limited, and even left a straight lack of stagnation (as the saying goes, "knee extension is not straight"). For elderly patients, it may also cause deep venous thrombosis of lower limbs or other cardio cerebral pulmonary diseases.

The prosthetic knee for home use of excessive exercise

In order to achieve the balance of soft tissue, the surgeon may also "stretch" the ligament (the ligament is not elastic, and the surgeon will prick it in the middle of the tight ligament for several times, so that the inelastic ligament will be stretched and released, just like a piece of paper, which can be elongated by cutting a few knives in the middle), and the postoperative doctor will also be able to stretch the ligament Shenghui will add anticoagulants to patients to prevent deep venous thrombosis of lower limbs. Therefore, excessive exercise after operation will cause intra-articular hemorrhage and intra-articular hematoma.

The loose ligament is like "pulling flower"

If excessive exercise leads to excessive enlargement of the knee joint, it may also cause excessive opening of the ligaments through the "pull flower", resulting in postoperative instability of the knee joint. Walking with unstable knee joint will accelerate the wear of prosthesis and eventually lead to failure of replacement.

Therefore, the scientific exercise is not only very necessary, but also should pay attention to the proper control. In order to achieve the ideal effect of knee replacement, how to exercise?

Postoperative day

Some doctors may encourage patients to go to the ground on the same day after surgery, but I personally think this is more radical.

The gastrointestinal function of the patients was still in a low state on the day after the operation, and they could not eat effectively to supplement the lost energy. In addition, the blood loss and the role of narcotic drugs during the operation could not achieve the best postoperative mental state. Therefore, it is suggested that the patients should lie in bed on the same day after operation.

If the patient thinks that they have the energy to do some exercise within their ability, they can choose to lie on the bed and stretch their feet and hook their feet. This action can call the calf muscles such as gastrocnemius, soleus, anterior tibialis, especially gastrocnemius, which is called the second heart of human body, which can assist venous reflux, and has a good effect on preventing deep venous thrombosis and edema of lower limbs.

It is suggested that 300-500 times of hooking and stretching feet should be done within the scope of one's ability. Other exercises are not recommended.
