Taking the patellar ligament bearing leg prosthesis as an example, the correct wearing method of leg prosthesis is introduced.

Taking the patellar ligament bearing leg prosthesis as an example, the correct wearing method of leg prosthesis is introduced.

(1)Wearing method: first, a thin and smooth nylon sock is put on the stump to reduce the friction on the skin of the stump and protect the skin of the stump; then a 1-2 layer cotton sock is put on the stump to absorb sweat and adjust the capacity of the receiving cavity of the stump. If the prosthesis is worn for a long time, the shape of the residual limb will change. When the stump is thin, the sock can be increased, and when the stump is fat, the sock can be reduced; then the soft stump is put on the inner receiving cavity (or inner sleeve); then a layer of stronger nylon sock is put on the outer surface of the inner sleeve, which has the function of protecting the inner sleeve and making it easy to penetrate into the outer receiving cavity of the prosthesis; then the stump with various sock is inserted into the outer receiving cavity of the prosthesis. If it is too difficult to insert, you can put some talcum powder on the outside of nylon hosiery and the receiving cavity before inserting. After the insertion position is appropriate, fasten the leather girdle, and then roll over the redundant hosiery above the leather girdle to cover the leather girdle.

(2)How to determine whether the position of the residual limb penetrating into the receiving cavity is correct: generally, the amputee is in the standing position of wearing the prosthesis, and the residual limb can bear the load evenly in the receiving cavity without feeling pain. At the same time, the length of the artificial limb is also appropriate, so the wearing position of the mark is appropriate. If you feel pain at the end of the stump and the prosthesis is is short, it may be that the stump is inserted into the receiving cavity too much, and you need to wear 1-2 layers of stump socks. If the position of the patellar ligament (patella is the kneecap, and the width of the next transverse finger is the patellar ligament) can't bear the load, and the load is mostly located in the bone protrusion under it, it is possible that the residual limb can't be inserted in place. You can try to reduce one layer of the residual limb cover, and then put on the prosthesis to feel whether it is appropriate.
