There are many inconveniences in the life of patients with upper limb disability, so the installation of hand prosthesis is a happy thing for patients, so what types of hand prosthesis can be selected?
(1) Do not use prostheses: many factors may prevent patients from using them. Prosthesis may not be necessary when a patient can use a stump to maintain hand function. Compared with the health aspect, the prosthesis can not meet the patient's appearance, and the patient will not use the prosthesis.
(2) Passive prostheses: passive prostheses without active finger movement, but they can be used to repair objects, push objects and perform other functions. This type of prosthesis usually requires a protective receiving cavity, which is fixed to the stump by a complete suction fit. This type of receiving chamber is connected with a shapeable finger or operating rod, which is used to control the object to realize the active grasp and release of the remaining fingers.
(3) External force prosthesis: in recent years, due to the development of electronics, materials science and prosthetic technology, electronic terminal equipment for hand amputees has begun to be applied in clinic, such as electric hand prosthesis controlled by EMG signal.
(4) Self powered prostheses: some hand defects can be divided into two types, which are driven by control cable and driven by wrist joint or finger. The hand-controlled prosthesis driven by the control cable has the same grip strength as the cable-controlled prosthesis of the higher plane amputation, and the belt causes discomfort and restricts functional activity. The wrist or finger drive provides active grip and retraction, but sometimes activities inadvertently place the finger in a weak functional position.
