The knee joint -axis control

[Abstract]:
The knee joint -axis control

When the prosthetic user sits or walks, the prosthetic knee joint simulates the movement of human knee joint through uniaxial or multiaxial structure.

1. Uniaxial knee joint Uniaxial knee joint has transverse hinge, which can make lower leg bend and stretch. The knee joint is light and durable, and the whole stability is realized by aligning the artificial limbs.

 2. Multi-axis knee joint The polyaxial knee joint has two or more pairs of rods connecting the upper and lower parts of the knee joint. Both ends of the rod pivot, thus forming a center of motion for rotation. When the prosthetic user bends the knee, the rods cross proximally and backward, thus changing the center or rotating, thus improving the stability of the knee in the standing stage. The inherent stability of polyaxial knee joint makes it especially suitable for people with short residual limbs or weak hip muscles. However, multi-axis knee joint is not as durable as single-axis knee joint.
