Syme amputation is a supracondylar amputation of the distal end of the tibia and fibula. Features of the Syme prosthesis include:

1. Because the residual limb is too long, there is no position to install the ankle joint, and the static ankle (SACH) foot is generally used;

2. Because the end of the residual limb is often bulbous, which is larger than the group, special treatment (such as opening a window) is required when making a full-contact receiving cavity, and the appearance is not very good;

3. The residual limb is long, the calf muscles are relatively complete, and there is a long lever arm, and the residual limb has a good effect on the prosthesis;

4. The end of the residual limb bears weight. Compared with the calf prosthesis, the end of the residual limb bears more weight than the patellar ligament, which is more in line with the physiological characteristics of the human body;
