Is it okay to wear prosthetics often?

(1) Keep the inner surface of the receiving cavity clean. The receiving cavity is in direct contact with the skin. If the inner surface of the receiving cavity is not clean for a long time, it will increase the risk of infection of the residual limb. The user should frequently clean the residual limbs and frequently wipe the inner wall of the receiving cavity to keep it dry and clean. The inner receiving cavity (soft receiving cavity) of the calf prosthesis can be cleaned with warm water, and the water temperature should not be too hot to avoid deformation. Correctly choose residual limb socks and wash residual limb socks, use good absorbent cotton and wool residual limb socks, and wash the socks with low alkaline soap frequently. Change the residual limb socks at least once a day, and change them frequently when you sweat a lot.

(2) The use of prostheses should be stopped when the residual limb is injured, especially the lower limbs, because the wound of the residual limb is difficult to heal when using the lower limb prosthesis to bear weight, and it will often increase the wound and cause infection, resulting in prolonged failure Wear a prosthesis. Therefore, minor injuries should be dealt with carefully and cured in time. During the treatment of residual limb wounds, the patient should be instructed to make up his mind not to wear a prosthesis, and to trim the unfit part of the receiving cavity to prevent the wound from recurring. In addition, when abnormalities such as eczema, blisters, cysts, white ringworm, dermatitis, discoloration and edema of the stump are found on the skin of the stump, symptomatic treatment should be timely to prevent infection.

(3) Always pay attention to whether there are small cracks on the upper edge of the receiving cavity, find out in time, and ask a prosthetic technician to repair it in time to extend the life of the prosthesis.

(4) Always pay attention to whether there are abnormal noises in the prosthesis during walking. If there is any discovery, it indicates that some joint components or joints are damaged or loose, and should be repaired in time.

(5) The plastic parts in the prosthesis structure should not be in contact with acids, alkalis, fire, colored solutions, or hard foreign objects to prevent corrosion, staining, melting and cracking.

(6) The decorative jacket is easy to be damaged. If the user finds a small damage, it can be repaired to extend its service life.

(7) Pay attention to the heel height when changing shoes for lower limb prostheses. Do not change to shoes with different heel heights, because the alignment of lower limb prostheses is directly related to the heel height of the shoes worn by the amputee. If you wear shoes with a different heel height than the one designed when making the prosthesis, the prosthesis will not be aligned properly, leading to knee reflexion or knee flexion.

(8) The outer packaging and footboard of the lower limb prosthesis should be waterproof. If the water sticks accidentally, the socks and shoes should be changed immediately, and the wet place should be dried with a hair dryer before use.

(9) For the electrical and precision mechanical systems in the prosthetic structure, avoid moisture, impact and staining of dirt, and seek professional inspection and maintenance regularly.

(10) Regular inspection and maintenance: Generally, a comprehensive inspection and maintenance of the prosthesis should be done at the prosthesis manufacturing organization every six months or a year. This is very important to extend the life of the prosthesis.
